It has been a little over a year since my family and I moved to the beach. We use to move from place to place never really feeling like we found home. But, I am happy to report that I do believe the beach is where we will hang our hats for the next several years.
It has taken us awhile to get to this point. Don't get me wrong there are still moments when I get caught up in the crazy hustle and bustle of the city and every day frustrations, but all it takes is a quick 5 min drive to beach for me to know I am home.
For those of you that have never had the chance to experience the ocean please take the time to do so. Nothing compares to that moment when you walk over the sand dune and see the majestic blue ocean and hear the soothing waves rise up and down the shore. You smell the crisp salt air, feel the breeze, and take a deep breath. You are at peace, even if just for a few short moments your troubles have disappeared.
My troubles melt away once I step onto the beach. I breathe in the salty air and say (usually out loud), "This is why we live here." Each time I go to the ocean I find something new to inspire me. Whether it's my kids splashing through the waves laughing, my husband and I walking hand in hand, or the amazing colors of blue sparkled throughout the ocean and fluffy white clouds blanketing the sky. There is always something new about the colors, smells, and sounds.
So, I guess what I am trying to say is find your inspiration in your every day life. Take the time to watch the sun glisten across the land, be it pavement, mountains, oceans, or buildings. Stop and listen to the sounds. Hear the birds chirping in the background or pick up the faint sounds of music breaking through the windows of cars and homes. And, always take time for you. Express you creativity. Use your talents to inspire the world.
